1/ Introduction
Amino methacrylate copolymer (E100) is a commonly used taste-masking film-coating excipient in pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. The E100 grade is available as granules, white to slightly yellow in color, and soluble at pH < 5.0, thereby effectively masking the unpleasant taste of APIs in the oral cavity. Amino methacrylate copolymer (E100) is freely soluble in ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone, but insoluble in water, in which it disperses.
2/ Key Advantages
- Excellent taste-masking while ensuring drug release in the stomach
- Provides tablets with a glossy, elegant appearance and easier swallowability
- Film coating adheres firmly to the tablet core
- Coating suspension has low viscosity, facilitating the manufacturing process
- Granular form, highly soluble in alcohol, uniformly dispersible in water, convenient for preparing coating solutions
- Formulation can be easily adjusted
- Granular form with good stability under storage conditions
- Product complies with USP/EP/BP
- The manufacturer has EXCIPACT GMP Certificate for Pharma application
- Stock available at GSP/ GDP warehouse, prompt delivery, competitive price
3/ Applications
- Masks the unpleasant taste of APIs → enhances patient compliance and improves therapeutic efficacy
- Protects active ingredients from adverse environmental factors such as moisture, light, and atmospheric oxygen → increases tablet stability
- Improves the aesthetic quality of tablets, giving them a glossy appearance and making them easier to swallow
- Common active ingredients with unpleasant taste often subjected to taste-masking film coating include clarithromycin, erythromycin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc.
